WSSU volleyball standouts make pre-season team

Seymour

The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams duo of senior right side Francesca Edgerton and junior outside hitter Avoni Seymour both earned spots on the Volleyball Coaches Association 2012 All-CIAA Preseason Volleyball Team.

Last season, the two players combined for 385 total kills and 54 service aces. Edgerton led the way for the Lady Rams with a team-high 199 total kills while Seymour added 186. Edgerton also pulled in double-duty as a starting outfielder on the Lady Rams softball team, which won its second straight CIAA championship.

The Lady Rams are off to a rocky start this season. They lost their season-opener on Aug. 31 at Wingate, and their Sept. 1 match-up at Lees-McRae. The team loss its home opener against Mars Hill on Tuesday.
