WS Chronicle December 2, 2012 0
‘Swingle Bells’ begins Dec.

The Carolina Chamber Symphony Players is presenting “Swingle Bells” on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 3 and 7:30 p.m. at the James A. Gray Jr. Auditorium inside the Old Salem Visitor Center, 900 Old Salem Road. The concert features vocalist Martha Bassett with the Giannini Brass and the Jazzmas Trio.

“Our Swingle Bells concert will feature music that appeals to a broad range of people of all ages who love holiday music performed in a fun, swinging jazz setting,” Joe Mount, president of the Carolina Chamber Symphony Players Board, said.  “This is a great way to spend time with family and friends enjoying favorite songs that people cherish as part of the holidays.”

Musical selections for Swingle Bells will include “Sleigh Ride,” “Let it Snow,” “The Christmas Song,” “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”

Featured musicians include Martha Bassett, vocals, Federico Pivetta on piano, Matt Kendrick on bass, John Wilson on drums, Anita Cirba and Ken Wilmot playing trumpet, Joe Mount playing horn, Chris Ferguson playing trombone and Matt Ransom playing tuba. The Carolina Chamber Symphony Players also are releasing a CD of holiday music called “Swingle Bells.”

The CD, which costs $15, will be available for purchase at the 2012 concerts, at the Old Salem Visitor Center and through CD Baby.  Tickets for Swingle Bells are $18 for adults and $5 for students/children.
