Sorority to present debutantes

The members of the Greensboro-based Beta Nu Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. will be joined by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority International President Dr. Barbara West Carpenter at their Saturday, March 16 61st Annual Debutante Ball.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. in the Stallings Ballroom of the Memorial Student Union at North Carolina A&T State University. The debutantes will be presented by Mr. Tyrone Joyner, executive director of the Outer Limits Offender Program.

During a 10-month period, the young ladies took part in several activities, including community service projects, attending the Presidential Inauguration in Washington, D.C. and a college fair.

The 2012-2013 debutantes are –

• India Janaye Cook is the daughter of Noel and Renee Cook and a junior at Reidsville High School. Her escort is Qaasim Johnson.

• Anya Yvon Doonqah is the daughter of Drs. Kofi and Sandra Doonquah and a senior at Rockingham County High School. Her escort is Jason Whitaker.

• MaKayla ChaCarole Renee Dotts is the daughter of Mr. Michael W. Dotts and Ms. Marian Dotts and a senior at Grimsley High School. Her escort is Vernon Karl Brown III.

• Briana Nicole Eason is the daughter of Anthony and Kim Eason and a senior at Smith Senior High School. Her escort is Scottie Eugene Saunders.

• Kentilya Je’Barra Eason is the daughter of Kenneth Eason Sr. and Barbara Jean Eason and a senior at Northeast Guilford; Her escort is Kenneth Ray Eason Jr.

• Genesis O’Shea Hawthorne is the daughter of Monica Hawthorne and Billy Moore Jr. and a senior at the Middle College at Bennett. Her escort is Ron Christopher Morrisey Jr.

• Diandra Denise Ingram is the daughter of Maurice and Denise Ingram and a junior at Northern Guilford High School. Her escort is Tevin Morrison.

• Casey Lisandra Lassiter is the daughter of Cornelius and Lisa Lassiter and a senior at Bartlett Yancey High School. Her escort is Avery LeJames Marsh.

• Raven Alexis Loggins is the daughter of the late Railanda Loggins and Carlos Thorpe and the granddaughter of Jackie Robinson. She is a senior at Dudley High School, and her escort is Samuel Elisha Loggins.

• Gabrielle Chenise Marshall is the daughter of Marcus and Erica Marshall and a senior at Rockingham County High School. Her escort is Kristopher A. Logan.

• Ruby Alexis Reaves is the daughter of Bobby and Deloris Reaves and a junior at Quality Education Academy High School; Her escort is Tevin Loyd.

• Tashawna Siler-Briggs is the daughter of Shawn and Tasha Siler and is a senior at SmartKids TLC. Her escort is Emmanuel Siler-Briggs.

• Kysheria Monet Smith is the daughter of Jerome and Lawanda Travis and a senior at Reidsville High School. Her escort is Michael Rashaad Galloway.

• Kierra Shannon Vinson and Lindsey Montana Vinson are the daughters of Donald Ray and Constance Vinson and are seniors at the Academy at Smith. Kierra’s escort is Montre Vidal Mackey, and Lindsey’s escort is Kamara Muhammad.

• Jamia Sharron Williamson is the daughter of Jimmy and Sharon Williamson and is a senior at Reidsville High School. Her escort is Jasper Thomas III.

In addition to being awarded a scholarship to the college of her choice, the debutante and escort with the highest grade point average will receive special recognition. The current president of the Greensboro Alumna Chapter is Martha L. Haigler. Attorney Eunice Jones-Obeng is the Debutante Ball chairperson, while Regetta Spearman is the Debutante Activity coordinator and Latanya Miller is the publicity Chairperson.
