Twin-City Outreach (TCO), a local nonprofit agency that empowers young girls, recently launched a social media network, Mumster Book, to help its members and their friends connect and stay connected with kids in their age groups.
This program was created and designed by Demetrie Quarles, a TCO founder, for kids who currently do not have a social media page on sites like Facebook.
“It’s time for our kids to communicate with their age groups and should not be connected with any social media with adults,” he said.
Although Mumster Book is not intended to be in competition with Facebook, Instagram, Skype or Twitter, Quarles said it does offer similar features and benefits.
Mumster Book is geared for 9-15-year-olds, and parents must register their child. All accounts are subject to approval. There is a $10 sign up fee; the organization says proceeds are used to help Twin-City Outreach programs.
