Whole Man Ministries has received $3,500 from the Food Lion Charitable Foundation. The Ministries will use the gift to feed the hungry and provide nutritional education in the community.
“We are grateful for the grant from the Food Lion Charitable Foundation, which will help to feed the more than 52 families and individuals Whole Man Ministries serves every other week,” said Pastor Barry Washington. “We know the need is great, and we want to do all we can to combat hunger in our communities.”
Whole Man Ministries is a partner agency of the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina and has fed more than 13,000 families since its inception in 2007.
The gift will also help fund Whole Man Ministries’ most recent program, The Health Ministry, which serves to educate the congregation and the public on nutrition and exercise benefits for a stronger, healthier lifestyle. The program is directed by Elder Reginald Sims.
Established in 2001, the Food Lion Charitable Foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $9 million in grants.
