The Winston-Salem Black Chamber of Commerce is participating in the nationwide effort to get consumers to “Shop Small” by sponsoring a local business shopping tour on Saturday, Nov. 29.

The Black Chamber has reserved a 32-passenger bus for the tour that will leave from The Enterprise Center, 1922 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, at 10:30 a.m. The bus will stop at the businesses of Black Chamber of Commerce members. The tour will end at 2:30 p.m.

In 2010, American Express founded Small Business Saturday to help businesses with their most pressing need: getting more customers. The initiative encourages people to shop at small businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The single day has grown into a powerful movement, and more people are taking part than ever before.

The cost of the bus tour is $20, which includes lunch. Business owners who wish to be included on the bus tour route may join the Black Chamber online at or by calling Black Chamber President Randon Pender at 336-575-2006.
