The Twin City Choristers, an all-male performing choral group, will perform “Gifts of the Spirit” at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30 in Dillard Auditorium of the Albert H. Anderson Conference Center on the campus of Winston-Salem State University. The annual Christmas concert is free and open to the public.

The program is under the direction of Dr. Fred D. Tanner and accompanied by Fredricka Dixon. Musical selections will include a combination of traditional Christmas classical works, contemporary works with Christmas themes, works with an international flair and a few musical surprises and crowd favorites.

The group was founded in September 1957 by Dr. Permilla Flack Dunston, who served as The Choristers’ first musical director. At that time, the group was composed of primarily male high school students from Carver High School, where Dr. Dunston taught music.

Today, the group is comprised of more than 30 voices with a wide range of both musical and vocational backgrounds.

The Choristers have recorded three CDs: “Reflections” (2004), “Christmas with The Twin City Choristers” (2005) and “From the Heart: The Twin City Choristers – Live 50th Anniversary Celebration” CD and DVD (2007). All three recordings can be purchased through The Choristers website at www.thetwincitychoristers.com.

The Chorister organization is a member group of The Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County.
