There has been a sharp decline in the number of African American children playing the sport of baseball. In recent years, there has been a deliberate effort by several organizations to change the trend. Touch Em All Triad (TEAT) is a new organization looking to do their part to bring baseball to more African American children.
There is a new organization in town seeking to help at-risk youth head in the right direction. Youth Collaborative Inc. (YCI) is hoping their method will be sustainable in keeping kids off the streets.
Washington feels impact of Ron Rivera’s first season
The Parkland Mustangs have found their new leader for the men’s basketball program. Chris Geter will now lead Parkland into battle on the hardwood.
Glenn’s highly touted senior defensive end, Jahvaree Ritzie, has chosen the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to play college football. Ritzie had most of the blue blood programs after him, but chose to stay close to home.
Ty Lyles had a high school career that you really only see in the movies. Multiple state championships and more accolades than you can count. In less than a month, Lyles will head to Conway, South Carolina, and enroll in Coastal Carolina University.
As we close out the year, I wanted to look back on the year of sports, because I don’t think we will ever see another year like this.
