On Nov. 16, Psi Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. held their inaugural Que-Mmunity 5k Run/Walk.
Psi Phi Chapter Of The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. has had a reputation for giving to those in need in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County community for many years. The members of the chapter went shopping on Nov. 26 to purchase Thanksgiving dinner groceries for families in our community.
EnergyUnited has awarded more than $42,000 in Bright Ideas education grants to 45 teachers to fund innovative classroom projects. Students at schools in Alexander, Catawba, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Iredell, Mecklenburg and Rowan Counties, will participate in Bright Ideas projects funded by EnergyUnited this year.
The Phi Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. celebrated 95 years in Winston-Salem with the unveiling of a new historical marker on Friday, Nov. 15. The marker is located near the corner of MLK and Carl Russell Avenue.
For the past 10 years, Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church has marked Thanksgiving by giving away turkeys to those in need in the community. From a humble beginning with just 50 turkeys in 2009, this year the giveaway reached amazing new heights with volunteers passing out more than 700 turkeys last weekend.
Some of the most talented young people in our community and some of the best restaurants in the area were showcased at the Milton Rhodes Center for Visual Arts last Thursday during Authoring Action’s 10th annual Taste of the South fundraiser.
